The work pictured on the website represents a small percentage of the pieces we’ve built over the years – as custom commissions, limited edition runs, and speculative pieces for exhibition. Because we maintain a small team (myself and a few assistants), we don’t usually carry a large inventory of finished pieces. Generally, work is built to order and delivered in 8-12 weeks.
If you like the aesthetics and values of what is shown here, but don’t see exactly what you need, please don’t hesitate to contact us – we may have a piece in the portfolio that hasn’t been added to the website yet, or we would be happy to discuss a custom piece.
I named this enterprise J. Rusten Furniture “STUDIO” because every piece I build offers an education. I learn something new with each object, even when I’m finishing an 8th identical dining chair. And, what I learn is how to do it better the next time. So, I don’t like the idea of offering a static catalog of pieces. Each one can be made a little better than the last. There is an evolution to these designs, whether that means a chair seat is angled an extra half a degree, or a joint is better reinforced, or a different wood species is introduced. I hope you’ll participate in this evolution with us.
